Facts

Students that receive GSBF scholarship demonstrate:

  • High Academic Achievement (typically in the top 1/3 of graduating class, "B" average or higher, college prepared, mean ACT composite of 27.)

  • Financial Need (family income is less than $60,000, usually Pell Grant eligible.)

  • Strong Character (students pledge to avoid drugs, alcohol or other detrimental activities.)

  • Involvement in extracurricular, community and volunteer activities

What the University/College Pledges:

  • Designate a liaison who will serve as the primary contact and will work to maximize the non-GSBF student aid through normal awarding parameters, utilizing standard FAFSA information, including a guarantee of four years of work study or student employment.

  • Expedite the admission application processing of GSBF students (pre-screening, pre-advising, early evaluation and/or admission.) GSBF students must meet "minimum admission criteria" as set by the institution.

  • Serve as a possible host site for GSBF summer "learning" camps for GSBF students while enrolled in high school.

  • Assist GSBF staff in identifying and recruiting qualified mentors (i.e. students or employees.)

  • Award an annual half-tuition scholarship for a maximum of eight semesters contingent upon the student remaining in good standing (student may also qualify for additional institutional aid based on academic merit, endowed scholarships, need-based financial aid, etc.)

What GSBF Pledges:

  • Fund the balance of the tuition, room and board, textbooks and fees not covered by the university/college, state, federal or local monies. Funding will be for a maximum of eight semesters contingent upon the student remaining in good standing.

  • Highlight the university/college on the "affiliates" portion of the web page with a brief summary followed by a hyperlink to the institutions website.

  • Feature the university's/college's name on GSBF documents and promotional materials.

  • Allow universities/colleges to directly market their programs to GSBF students (i.e. a private college night featuring only GSBF students.)

  • Verify all financial aid packages presented to GSBF students from our affiliate universities/colleges (GSBF will employ an expert in the field of financial aid and admissions to review each packet submitted to GSBF students for accuracy.)

  • Conduct an annual review with the institution regarding the Affiliation Program and progress of GSBF student(s) enrolled.
